Team 7 Stars are Qatar’s 2019 Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five champions. Amateur footballers and fans from all around Qatar gathered at Al Bidda Park to settle the score on Friday. The five-a-side football tournament has set a challenge to reimagine skill and teamwork on the pitch.
The national finals also featured a gathering of some of Qatar’s most prominent athletes. Red Bull athletes — World champion high jumper Mutaz Barshim, squash player Abdulla al-Tamimi and esports player Ahmad al-Meghessib — were joined by Qatar’s national football star Almoez Ali in showing support for the contestants.
The highly-anticipated contest featured almost 200 teams during four qualifier rounds, leading up to the national finals.
The top 16 teams then went head-to-head following a knockout format. After putting up an impressive run through the tournament brackets, team 7 Star outplayed their opponents to claim the title and their golden ticket to Brazil.
Team 7 Star will fly to Brazil to represent Qatar at the world finals this July. The lucky 7 Star will have to compete against other finalists from 40 countries for the opportunity to play against the phenomenal PSG striker Neymar Jr. and his squad.
The Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five tournament continues to find success as a global signature series, hosted by the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr.
