Doha: Due to heavy rush on weekends National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) will extend their opening hours on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays starting today. The new timing will be in effect till the start of Ramadan.
“Starting from April 18th until the beginning of Ramadan, the museum will have extended opening hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings to 9.00pm,” NMoQ said in a post on their social media. On Thursday and Saturday it will open at 9am and on Friday at 1.30pm.
NMoQ said in its tweet that “due to the large crowds visiting on weekends, visitors should note the following: Museum entrance and car-park closes at 7pm, last tickets will be issued at 7.30pm and museum will close at 9pm.”
On weekdays the museum will remain open from 9am – 7pm (Sunday – Wednesday). Museum entrance and car park will close at 5.30pm, last tickets will be issued at 6pm and museum will close at 7pm.
NMoQ is also starting ‘Family Saturdays’ from April 20.
“In order to ensure that our youngest visitors have an opportunity to experience the museum to its fullest potential, we are introducing ‘Family Saturdays’ from April 20th,” they said on Twitter.
There will be educational sessions for children organised in the Learning studio at NMoQ, discussing various historic topics suitable for children.
During the month of Ramadan the museum will be open 7 days a week from 8pm – 12 midnight.
Entrance to the museum free for all residents of Qatar.
For people coming from outside Qatar, adults will have to pay QR50 for the entry, while children (0-16 years) enter free. Students will get a 50 percent discount on presentation of valid ID card.Courtesy:ThePeninsula
